Ayurveda, the world’s oldest comprehensive health care system, is the Science of Life or Pure Wisdom of Daily Living that has been practiced in India for over 5,000 years. It is the “sister science” to Yoga and is one of the most recognized and widely practiced disciplines of alternative medicine in the West. It imparts wisdom on how to live in balance with oneself and the environment, and is a profound philosophy that conjoins “Mind, Body, Spirit” as a framework for Holistic Health and Wellness, a practical knowledge of self-healing that anyone can learn.
In this session, through discussion, dialogue, reflection, and a question-and-answer period, we will explore and experience the ABCs of Ayurveda and the philosophy it shares with Yoga. Complete an Ayurvedic Dosha Questionnire and paint a pallet of who you are and which yoga poses and breathing techniques will best suit your needs.
Learn practical applications of Ayurveda for Yoga Teachers and Practitioners, and how Ayurveda supports Yoga practice by understanding the elements, their functions and how they form the doshas, your constitutional make-up, and their relationship to the mind and emotions. Find out more about Ayurvedic Psychology and how to use postures and breathing techniques to organize an appropriate yoga practice to balance body, mind and spirit in order to be free of disease and move forward in life with grace and ease.
